Bug description: Crash in preg_replace

Hi,
PHP segfaults during a call to preg_replace.
If in the code below
preg_replace('/(\s|^)(\.)+/',' ',$source);
is replaced by
preg_replace('/(\s|^)\.+/',' ',$source);
The crash doesn't occurs anymore.
