Description:

It's a strange that nobody has noticed a memleak in such an essential
function. This needs no comments, does it?

Reproduce code:

        echo memory_get_usage() . "\n";
        explode(' ', 'blah foo bar');
        echo memory_get_usage() . "\n";
?>


Expected result:
