OK, I believe I've resolved the issue - there was trailing whitespace
between the ?> and the end of the file.

Looking at previous logs, the same bug applies to 5.0.4 on my mac, and
5.1.6 on my Linux host (1and1), now trying a 5.2.0 version built from
source on Dreamhosts' Linux.
