Is everyone having a go at picking an EOL?
Nope, it's always been unix-only in CVS except when another EOL is specifically needed (e.g. in the old .dsp files). Jani's been enforcing this ruthlessly for several years :) but he's hardly alone.
What exactly are the standards for source files and what technical issues come up when something other than 'X' is used?
Long experience has taught me that patches don't apply cleanly (if at all) when EOLs are mixed, for one. There are probably other ws-related issues arising too, but I'm unaware of them.
