I believe this is the case. As the name implies, thttpd *is* tiny when
compared to the httpd heavyweights like Apache. Because of this, the thttpd
authors imagined that thttpd would be integrated into other applications,
instead of the other way around.

Actually, I'd love to have php distributed with such a small and powerful
http server -- it just needs quite a different approach than the other SAPI
modules.
