Starting with version 4.1.0, the gmp_init() and/or gmp_strval() function seems broken. Having checked the changelog/press release for 4.1.0, there was mention of an optional argument to gmp_init(), one that I do not use. And code that worked in 4.0.6 does not work with 4.1.0 (no other changes other than upgrading to the new PHP).
