It means that the session_start function has not changed (has restored the old value) the session id value. Set your browser to do not accept cookies, and it will work.
That's not an option, people other than myself have to log in and I have no control over their settings.
Also, it doesn't explain why the problem surfaced after working correctly for over a year.
