[PHP] Another Select question

can some one tell me if this should work or not please?


<option value="Ultra 1 <? if ($system == 'Ultra 1') { echo 'SELECTED'; }?>">Ultra 
1</option>

as i cant seem to get it working even if i change SELECTED to OPTION
