I've not looked at asp, but that sounds like a completely different world. Maybe the equivalent is to find an open source application that does pretty much what you want and use that, even join in with its development. Check in sourceforge or freshmeat. AFAIK, PHP doesn't offer that kind of packaged approach. Perhaps there's a major difference between the way MS approaches things and the way PHP/open source does.
