In Germany they're no that conservative. One of the biggest hosters in Germany (several million domains) allows to chosse between PHP 3, 4.0.6 4.3.x and 5.x via .htaccess > Personally, SimpleXML was all I needed to switch after a particularly > frustrating bought with php4 and xml parsing.
