I've seen a fair number of PHP applications that had nothing to do
with Hypertext...
GD, libPDF, Ming, GTK...
Hell, for the past year or two, I've been replacing/writing new shell
scripts written in BASH/Perl with PHP. None of them output HTML. ;)
