[PHP] parse error is always on line 1 == error ?

Hi, I have a problem,
that when I get a parse error it always says that it's on line 1 in 
this or that file.
Where is the configuration option to set this right?
I have on another server seen that it's possible to get it to state 
the actual error line.
(it's PHP Version 3.0.15  on  solaris)
Please help me out on this one.
