Ok, now what languages DO use ^ for exponents?

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is BASIC.

Even Bash uses ^ as an xor operator:

  $ echo $(( 7 ^ 2 ))
  5
  $ echo $(( 7 ** 2 ))
  49
