[PHP] REG_BADPAT ERROR!

I got this error:

Warning: REG_BADPAT in /usr/home/64.157.1.190/public_html/test/segrabs.php on line 236

and the line 236 is:  $url=ereg_replace("&","&",$url);

Sometime, the number of the line on which the error happen change, but it is always a 
ereg_replace function call..

what is that error?!
