This should work on most Linux variants, so long as the hostname command exists
and the PHP process has permission to execute it.
function getServerHostname($full = false)
{
$retval = `hostname`;
if (!$full) {
$retval = array_shift(explode('.', $retval));
}
return $retval;
}
