[PHP] File read Parser error

Can someone tell me why I am getting an error for the second line below. 
It works locally but not live.

       <?php
                $filename = "www/name/test/free.txt"
                $toread = fopen($filename, 'r');
                $contents = fread($toread, filesize($filename));
                fclose($toread);
                           echo "$contents";
              ?>
