[PHP] curl_exec() output and curl_setopt( CURL_CERTIFICATE, $path )

1. How to redirect curl_exec() output to a variable without
   passing it thru a file?

2. Is there a way to use CRT certificates with cURL
   [curl_setopt( CURL_CERTIFICATE, $path ) ]?
