[PHP] Function Alias: mysql()

I cannot seem to find in the documentation the what the function mysql() is aliaseed 
to using PHP4.0.6.  Any ideas?

Example:

$rez=mysql($dbname,$query);

Everything works fine... But I want to be sure what is actually being used.
