This is true - you should send a content type of either text/x-wap.wml or text/vnd.wap.wml (for WML 1.0 and 1.1 respectively)... header('Content-Type: text/x-wap.wml'); PHP doesnt insert anything extra into the output that isn't in the script you write - check there is no leading whitespace before the first '<?'
