Ok let me be more specific. I know I could do this with perl but it is going to be used on a page that will be loaded hundreds of times a minute, and so it needs to be fast. I was hoping that php had a function that could be used to do this, something like perl's webping.

I am looking for a way to check to see if a website is up, something like a ping command. Does anyone know of a way to do this? Mike Fifield Charles Schwab & Co, Inc.
