The problems you were having with the server components of the studio sound quite odd - can you elaborate on them? (probably off-list, it's best if you could submit a bug report about it through zend.com/store/pickup.php, evaluation support). This is water under the bridge now, but you could also install the server components of the studio onto your existing Apache installation instead of reinstalling it.
