If you want a value to be displayed don't use it as a primary key. The whole
point of a primary key is to create a stable value which can be used for
relationships between tables. If you change the primary key, you break these
relationships with other tables.

One of the things that makes answering your various questions difficult is that
you post a question to the group and then find the answer yourself before the
member of this group has a chance to compose their reply. There's often a
delay between the time when a message is posted and when it is forwarded to the
group. I saw your "fix" for using INT instead of INT(5) when my page reloaded
after I composed the reply you have seen.

Don't get me wrong, most of us are more than happy to help with those thorny
problems. However, I certainly appreciate it when the person asking the
question shows that they have made some effort to use the excellent resources
such as php.net. It's a big site to be sure and finding information often
relies on asking just the right question. However, the fact that you are
finding answers minutes after posting a question suggests that something is out
of sequence here. When I see a poster answering their own questions minutes
later, it makes me wonder if I should wait in replying rather than do so at my
first availability.

Good luck.
