I developed my own CMS by:
* storing all the changeable content in a MySQL database
* writing html forms to edit the content
* processing the forms with PHP

I learned how to do all this from the PHP Visual Quickpro Guide books by
Larry Ullman.

It has a very poor user-interface and my clients won't use it! But while I'm
reading up on usability and developing a better interface, it sure makes my
job of updating the site a whole whole whole lot easier.
