Well greetings everyone, first let me introduce myself and give you a little background before I get to my request.
I am a Java hacker and builder of a text-based MUD called Sancara (information can be found here http://sancara.servegame.com) and we run on a MySql database and what we would like to do is take php to access the database and be able to call for data and modify data from the php file. What we would ultimately like to do is be able to integrate the php file with paypal so that a player can purchase "Credits". once the purchase is made the database would have to be modified through php according to the amount of credits they have purchased. Example: Player A would login to their "Playerpage" and see all of their data Name - Player's Name from Database Level - Level of Player Description - Player's Description from Database Inventory Items - List from database Quest Points - Number of quests completed Training Points - Number of Training sessions left Credits - Number of Credits available Several of the fields a player would be able to freely modify, such as description, originating location, email etc. but next to the credits field would also be a drop menu and a button to purchase more credits. The dropdown menu would list the available amounts to be purchased and clicking on the button would then take them to paypal to complete the transaction, then upon completion bring them back to the page and show the new "Credits" amount. They could then login to the game and use the credits to purchase the items they would like. We know that other games have something like this, and there is alot of "ethics" controversy surrounding it, but we propose an offer to anyone who might wish to take it. If you think you can code it, great, we are willing to enter into a profit sharing with you. If you would like to keep your involvement in this project discreet feel free to email me, or I am willing to learn how to do it myself, but as I know nothing about PHP or MySql I would need lots of help, coaching and example scripts. Either way we appreciate any and all help, comments, suggestions, etc. Thank you
