Why don't you enable cleartype fonts on Windows as a start for anti
alising, as it seems like you don't have that enabled.

SUSE Linux with KDE4 setup for 96DPI with anti-alias on using a pair of 24" 1920x1200 displays.
Have sent a full breakdown to Levi off list ...
