The php-5.2.17 tarballs currently in the "museum" differ from the php-5.2.17
tarballs that were released on php.net back when 5.2.17 came out.
These are the "museum" files I'm talking about:

This is what was originally released on php.net (mirrored automatically by
MacPorts infrastructure at the time):
http://distfiles.macports.org/php5/php-5.2.17.tar.bz2
I'll attach a file showing the difference between these two versions of 5.2.17.
No major difference; my complaint is just that there is any difference at all.
It would be helpful if the files you offered in the museum were identical to
the files originally released, because various processes, including package
managers like MacPorts, will assume that they are. If, for example, MacPorts
were to switch the download location for php52 from the old no-longer-working
main URLs to the new museum URL, which we were asked to do
(https://trac.macports.org/ticket/43343), the checksums would not match and the
install would fail.
I welcome you to download the file MacPorts mirrored and replace the museum
version with it.
The issue also affects the museum's tar.gz version of the file. MacPorts did
not use and therefore did not mirror that version of the file, but I found a
copy here:
https://code.google.com/p/leyan-linux-life/downloads/detail?name=php-5.2.17.tar.gz
I've verified that its contents are identical to those in the MacPorts-mirrored
tar.bz2 version.
