Hi -
Checking out the resources at www.mysql.com and www.php.net would be a
good start, and there are a billion PHP/MySQL books in print.
You can also search the list archives by going to groups.yahoo.com and
logging in. There are many, many threads with exhaustive lists of
resources.
While there are some commercial tools that convert Access databases to
MySQL out there, you'll need to do more than just convert the database.
You'll also need to get the dynamic elements on the website to talk to
the MySQL database, which depending on how it was built could range from
a trivial 30-minute thing, to "it would be faster to throw the site away
and start over". It really depends on the quality of the original work.
If you don't want to get your hands dirty (from your email, I'm getting
the impression that you don't), you've probably got two options:
1.) Hire a consultant -- there are quite a few qualified people on this
list that could help.
Post a description of the job, possibly a link to the site, and
solicit interested parties to contact you OFF-LIST.
We have a strict no advertising policy on this list, which includes
solicitations from individual developers..
2.) Migrate to a host that supports your existing platform. There is
fierce competition in the hosting world, and I'm sure there's a vendor
out there that would be happy to accomodate.
Best,
Jeromie Clark
