well, my attempts to just use the stock docbook xslt stylesheets have so
far been a bust. xalan-j1 dies on a stack overflow, and xalan-j2 chokes
on the docbook stylesheets.

i'll try another xslt processor later. (i installed the latest ibm java
sdk on toye, for anyone else who wants to play around.)

(why are we going to have to hack on the dssl for the new site layout? i
think we'll be able to use the current output, and just reimplement the
functions that it calls.)

one thing i'm hoping we'd gain from switching to xslt is a few more
people with the knowledge to hack around with the stylesheets. as cool as
i think scheme is, xslt is much more buzzword-compliant than dsssl.
