perhaps this should just be folded into migration.xml, which already has a
section on migrating from php 3 to 4. seems silly to have two appendixes
on migration.
(the original text for these just came from the website, where they were
two pages. i make no claims that it was a very good organization of the
info, i was just pushing it into the documentation.)
