hello, i'm uploading files through a form and things have been working
fine in the past, but recently i have begun to get the error code '6',
which is undocumented in the PHP manual.

the above output is being produced by this code:
die(print_r($file));
where $file is an element of the superglobal $_FILES obtained with:
foreach($_FILES as $label => $file)

/*... FILE HANDLING CODE ...*/
}
Expected result:
----------------
The expected result would obviously be one of the documented error
codes (0 - 4)
Actual result:
--------------
The actual result is an error code '6', which is undocumented.
