This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient. For over 3 1/2 years count() has a second paramter, which allows to count an array recursive. Also an object, which implements SPL's Countable, returns the value returned by the count method. Both are mentioned in the English version of the manual.
