I believe you can drop spplus safely and forget about it, since the
extension
itself seems to be abandoned for a long time.
Unless someone informs us that this service does not exist, we may as
well add it. Awhile ago Brett Bieber and I discussed it including the
following bug report on the topic:

Brett already converted the XML but did not commit as we were in the
middle of a phpdoc freeze. And with regards to removing from pearweb,
I believe the holdup there is how to deal with the upcoming 404's.
The idea of dropping abandoned or unmaintained extensions is one of
its own as PHP is full of these, but typically we side with caution.
There is some discussion going on about which to delete, like for
example CCVS because the service it deals with hasn't existed for
many years...
