I've been very excited about Compass for a while as well.
I have integrated Compass into Pinax a while ago and I am still actively
using it right now.

A 0.7 Pinax basic project with a media/sass folder can be found here:
http://github.com/durdn/pinax-compass-integration/tree/next-gen

It's rough but it works.

Anyway I am very much interested in Dave's grid project and can't wait to
test it out when it reaches a usable milestone.
