Holga with a rangefinder?
I don't think so.

I've been using a converted Lubitel camera for my studio based zone
plate work. I like the camera, but its layout is causing me some
trouble. It's great having a viewing lens, but the placement of the
viewfinder on top is inconvenient given my lighting set-ups. I often
find myself check to jowl with a blazing quartz light. Also, having to
unscrew the camera from the tripod every time I need to change film is
annoying.

I'm looking for another cheap medium format camera to convert to zone
plate -- preferably one with a rangefinder style viewfinder on the
back. I've heard that the Agfa Sporti is a possible candidate. Does
anyone know what the focal length of this camera is? Any other cameras
come to mind? Thanks.

No offense to anyone, but I'm not comfortable discussing
business on the list - it should remain commercial free! In
the future please contact me directly about orders and such.

 Kate,
An easy and inexpensive camera to convert would be the Holga, it has the rangefinder but you would be limited in shutter speed control. - one speed, no time or bulb settings. Another easy camera to convert would be an older Agfa Isolette or Jsolette. It's a 6x6 120 camera with a viewing window above the camera lens, technically a rangefinder but without split image focus. Ebay prices are anywhere from 30 - 80 on these. The lens is easily removed from the shutter, and the shutter has a few speeds plus bulb. If I recall correctly, it has a similar focal length to the Lubitel, but the lens is on a bellows which folds into the body. A rather nice design, actually. If you are interested, I have an older Jsolette I was going to list on Ebay, contact me off-list if you are interested in it.

Sure he is, that's why his yesterday message to you should have been sent
directly to you and not to the list, had Jim done that, your replay would have
gone directly to Jim and not to the list.

BTW, I don't mind "commercials" from list members. Like when someone is
auctioning something at eBay or when Jim, tell us about a new pinhole camera he
is announcing or even if Zernike were to tell us about a new product, too. I
take that as information rather than as advertising.

Hi Laurence,

Welcome to the discussion group! And a delightful Pinhole Day to you
(in advance of the big day).

Check the Related Events listing at
http://www.pinholeday.org/participate/events.php. Click on the
dropdown where it says "ALL countries" and select United Kingdom from
the list. Click the GO button and you'll find what's happening
nearby. It looks like there are future workshops in Bristol, Lincoln
and Worcester, all by well known pinholer photographers. There is
also a pinhole portrait event taking place in Bury St. Edmunds.

Hopefully one of these events is near you. Keep checking, too. New
events will be added to the list as soon as we are aware of them.

For others on the list: this geographic search capability can help you
find a workshop in your country, state or city. And this bears
repeating: the WPPD 2002 online exhibit will offer a similar search
capability to create a virtual exhibit of images made in a certain
geographic area or by Group. "Groups" are workshops listed on the
WPPD Related Events page as well as classes whose teachers have
requested to be included in the group selection. When submitting your
WPPD image, click on your group in the dropdown list to be part of
your workshop or class's virtual exhibit.

WPPD 2002 Events Coordinator

Hi all,

I'm looking for folks in the Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan
area who might want to get together on the 28th to celebrate Worldwide
Pinhole Photography Day. It might be difficult to find a place that we
could all live with, but it might be worth a try. If your out there let
me know what you think.

James
