I have never drawn the parallel. But, I also have been a home brewer. I used to teach a class while I was in grad school to make a few extra bucks. I did a pin hole series of a blues bar recently so I guess there is a connection for me some where. There is instructions on how to make a still in the "Fox fire" book series that was popular a few decades back. Which may also have a parallel some how.
