Hello

Recently, members of our photo club organized a workshop for macro
photography. We would fill the standard 24 x 36 mm negative with objects
that were between double that size and a thenth of it (2,4 mm). While others
used expensive optic, I used my Nikon camera with a body cap fitted with a
hole approx. 2.5 mm. With a "focal length" (distance of hole to filmplane)
of approx. 50 mm, I needed to go to a distance of 50 mm of the object to get
a 1:1 representation. Of course, I could not go much closer and my results
where not quite as sharp as those of other people, but still quite a bit
sharper than the compressed digital pictures of which I uploaded three
examples for you to look at. The snail-shell and the feather are 1:1, the
year-rings in the sliced trunk are maybe 1.5:1.
