I ordered one of those (along with a few other "essential" items) yesterday.
I am now wondering if I can put together a timer to allow multiple night
pinhole shots w/o the bother of getting up at 5 to close it off...
thanks again for the tip!

Subject: [pinhole-discussion] more on the variable pinhole

Yesterday I mentioned the iris/motor assembly from All Electronics. I
looked at
it more closely last night. The motor comes off easily by removing two
small
screws. That leaves the iris assembly by itself. Besides the gear sector
that
drives the iris, there is also a small lever. You could glue an extension
to the
lever to easily control the iris. Without the motor, the iris moves easily
and
closes completely. I could not see any light coming through the assembly
when
it is completely closed, so it might make a nice shutter for a pinhole
camera.
I'll try and get some pictures of it.
