there are a few guys here in california, called the 'silt collective,' who make their own film stocks, and from natural and non-toxic souces. i'm not sure how they learned to do this, or how we could find out from them. one of the guys was teaching at the art institute here in SF last year, but i think he has left now. another, jeff warren, is living in L.A. somewhere...
