Pinhole friends,

I learned last week that my disk space allotment for the ??????? has increased (I thank my excellent web service provider, pair Networks). So, I've taken some of that new space and set up a discussion forum:

        http://www.???????/forum/

If you are not familiar with discussion forums and the way they work, here's a brief introduction. Forums (similar to bulletin boards) are web-based, rather than email-based. This list is email-based, but in a forum, you can post a message and it appears immediately in the forum. Others can post a reply to your message, or start a new thread. The communication is similar to email-based discussion, but the structure makes it different. You can read the threads you are interested in, and skip the others as you wish. By default, no email is sent from the forum. However, there are options to have replies e-mailed to you, if you don't won't to miss anything.

I don't know if the forum will be useful or not, but I thought it would be worth a try. The forum requires you to create an account before you can post a message. But, anyone can browse it. Account information consists of your name and email address. Just as with the discussion list, this information is only used for contacting you and for your own communications. This information will never be provided to anyone else. Right now there are no messages, so nothing to browse. So, if a few brave souls want to try it out, forge away. There is a little information on using the forum at the web site listed at the bottom of each page. I'll look into setting up some help.

If anyone would like to become a moderator for a forum, please let me know. I'm not exactly sure what moderators do in this particular forum software yet, but I'm looking into that.

This will be a trial period to see how much interest there is - say for a month or so? I ask that we not advertise the URL address in search engines until we see how much interest there is.

Gregg
