I remember (or maybe this just an urban myth implanted in my conscious)
the last time I was in Montreal (~ 15 years ago) the major
intersections had little signs saying something like "Please obey the
traffic signals


The "unwritten" rule appeared to be that if you saw the light turn red you
could go through it.

I parked my car and took the metro.
