It would be great to get complete, illustrated guidelines on how you
did your conversion. I tried a folding SX-70. It was a fun
dismantling project but a complete disaster (between the camera and
the film consumption). I'm not sure it is possible to convert one
successfully. The electronic shutter, folding interlock mechanism,
etc. creates all sorts of problems.
I raised the question about the publication/instructions on eBay to
see if anyone knew about the article. It doesn't sound like a camera
conversion project.
Perhaps I will have to bid on the auction . . .

Actually what I've found is it is easier to convert either a Polaroid
OneShot (for SX70 Film)
or one of the 600 cameras that DON'T have a build it or flip up flash than
a real SX70. The 600 film is nice because it's more easily obtained and for
a non metered pinhole camera one only needs to clip off the little wings
from the bottom of the rear of the film pack to make it fit an SX70 style
case. The film is still ASA600 while the SX70 is 100.
The rear housing on the OneShot can be "slipped" off & on after you gut the
mirror assembly making a pinhole that's 45 degrees off the film plane or you
can build a box out of foam core, etc to get a "normal" pinhole camera.
The only thing that is a bit tricky is to keep the shutter/ejector running
so you don't need to remove the pack to process the picture. This is why
it's easier to use a flashless model...cheap on EBay too...
With a little care you can mask off the back of the shutter assembly so
after the exposure just press the little red button for your picture...kind
of fun...
