Meri, My 3ed cranial nerve was damaged when my tumor hemoraged (appoplexy). It paralized my right eye for about 4 months. I could not even open the eyelid. I could still see out of it when I held the eyelid open but I could not move the eye up or down or right or left. The pupil was dialated and did not respond to light. I still have some problems adjusting to light changes, especially bright lights. I don't think they damagaed my nerves during surgery. My symptoms were the same before and after surgery. A year after my pit surgery, I had gained sufficient movement to consider corrective surgery to realign my eyes. I had this done at UCLA by Dr. Rosenbaum and would highly recommend him for anyone with a similar problem. My eyes work well in my general field of view, but the movement of my right eye is limited so when I look hard to the right, in the upward gaze, or down when walking or using bifocals I still get double vission. If contacts improve my problem I will consider LASIK surgery. This is probably a false start on spring, but it sure does feel good!! Daryl |
