Hi Marty,

I will be praying for you as you go see Dr. Ludlam. I will be praying that he will be able to diagnose you and find a way to treat you. I know it will not be any fun going through all the testing-but just think, it may lead to a diagnosis and treatment (that's what I tell myself.) I am glad that you are finally going to a pit specialist who can help you.

I also get very weak, though not as often, anymore. I used to be so weak that I could not stand up. I still get very weak after taking a warm bath or shower...and I believe it has everything to do with hormonal imbalance. My sisters, who were both pregnant, also got very weak after taking a shower/bath. In fact, I had a lot of their symptoms/vice versa. I feel like I have been pregnant a number of times without ever having a baby! I also feel like I have gone through menopause a number of times because my hormones are so messed up!

My PCP insisted my weakness/dizziness was due to electrolyte imbalance and low blood sugar. I have hypoglycemia and low potassium and phosphorus, so she prescribed gatorade to balance my electrolytes and blood sugar. I now consume mostly green tea, oj, and water...but I am constantly drinking something. I think that this has probably helped my low blood sugar and electrolytes. I also eat small meals (snacks) more frequently. This has probably helped with my vertigo and weakness. I used to pass out from low blood sugar quite frequently. I used to never eat. One time I "forgot" to eat for several days (I used to lead a very busy lifestyle)-I almost had to have an iv put in because I was too weak to drink or eat.

Weakness can be caused by a number of ailments-whether it is hormonal imbalance or low blood sugar-or something entirely different. I become extremely weak when my cortisol goes too low when I am in a stressful (physical or emotional) situation. I become so weak I cannot stand up or even keep my eyes open-I look comatose.

I am of the belief that all our symptoms are caused either directly or indirectly by the pit tumor. I used to be extremely healthy-then I get sick and am diagnosed with half-a-dozen hormonal diseases "that have nothing to do with the pit tumor"-per some of the docs I have consulted. Rubbish! Don't let them tell you that.

Well, I will be praying for you as you go through the testing this week. I look forward to hearing from you when you return.

Take care.

Meri
