The first line of treatment for acromegaly is surgery. I’ve been doing some reading and here is a link that discuss this.

I think what your doctor (endo) is doing now is trying to do two things – reduce his IGF one levels to give him some relief from the acromegaly, and try to reduce his tumor size so that he will have a more complete resection during surgery.

 

It is true, for Prolactinomas, that the first line of treatment is medication, but not for acromegaly. If you have concerns, talk to your endo.
