Oh no, it isn't a poor choice at all. Actually, we
do have some readers who have tumors that lie above the sella tursica and this
modified transsphenoidal approach is a real option for them in liu of
crainiotomy. Some of the patients who have to have crainiotomy are also able to
have a keyhole approach right at the eyebrow.
You really have to research the brain surgeons
though who can do these approaches. I didn't even know this option existed until
I had a talk with Vanderbilt a couple of years ago.
