Nothing personal  - sorry if it came out that way - lol. It seemed like there for a bit we all got to talking about supplements and all. I get a little worried when we all go out and try to self medicate ourselves to help us feel better. I say this because I did it. I did the alternative health and the alternative health books and the lifestyle changes etc...

I was big on soy... and I have thyroid disease. Soy and synthetic thyroid hormone doesn't mix. There isn't any warning labels on soy that tells you that.

I did a whole host of natural things about 9 years ago. I still remember my endo looking at me about 4 years ago asking me if I was taking any herbs (he was trying to rule out things that was causing me to have elevated cortisol levels). By that time, I was taking nothing but a multivitamin, b-complex, magnesium, potassium. I think  the only one who profited from my binge into alternative health was the book companies and the health food store.

I think natural remedies are great, just remember what patient population you are in and that you need to talk to your doctor before you embark on homeopathic remedies. They do work. Be supervised and be informed.

"Only your physician can help you make that decision. Your doctor will need to check your blood level of dhea in order to decide if you need to take a supplement and if so, what strength.

Does dhea require a prescription?
Until recently dhea was only available by a doctor's order. Even though some strengths can now be purchased without prescription we still recommend obtaining your DHEA under the supervision of your doctor. Only prescription DHEA will be reimbursed by your insurance."
