When I was in college, I wanted to get control of my weight (I was starting to gain enough for other people to notice, and what I was eating was SO not good for me - I kept getting colds and stuff!) and the first thing I did was improve my diet.

I basically cut WAY down on processed foods (microwave dinners, packaged cookies and snacks, etc.), used whole wheat pasta instead of regular, and ate ALOT more veggies. It was way easier to just eat better than to really start to exercise hardcore! I did eventually start walking about 10-20 minutes daily (I don't do that much anymore, but I try!). It was easy activity but it got the blood flowing.

Talk to your doctor about maybe seeing a nutritionist, and ask about what exercise he/she thinks is appropriate for you, considering your meds and conditions.
