I have a prolactin-secreating pituitary tumor, but have
not had surgery. When I was diagnosed, the tumor was quite large - - 2.5
to 3 inches, and my prolactin was quite high - - nearly 16,000. I have
taken Permax/Dostinex for almost 13 years. Now, according to the doctors
(Kal Post, Mt. Sinai, NYC) and the MRIs, there is "nothing there anymore."
Beautiful news. But my prolactin is still 300 - 350 (normal range is less
than 50 - I am a male), and I still take heavy Dostinex, and I have been told
my
prolactin level will likely never be "normal" and that I am a Dostinex junkie
for life. Given the alternatives, I am completely fine with that, but I,
like your husband, need to keep an eye on the issues that may present
themselves
from an elevated prolactin level: decrease in bone density; depressed
testosterone levels (and everything that comes with that); and general hormonal
imbalance issues.

My husband was diagnosed with prolactinoma about 1 year
ago. He went through a nasel surgery and a cranitomy.
He has been on dostinex since the discovery of the tumor. He
takes it everyday with no side affects. He has also went
though 8 weeks of radiation since the surgeries help but were not
able to help with his prolactin levels. He still has very
high levels. I was wondering if anyone has been through all
this and still struggling to keep the prolactin levels down.
I have to tried to research this but can't find nothing. The
doctors don't say much. All I know is radiation is not an
option any longer and surgery for him is very risky, especially
since he had a stroke during the last one among many other
complications. Does anyone have any thoughts or
              advise? Please let me know,
      thanks.
