----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: MinnieChat Message 2 in Discussion Melissa, Something that really helped me was to keep a yellow paper pad by my desk and make a list during the day of the things I needed to do. When I finished the item on the list, I'd take a yellow highlighter and mark them off. This really helped me keep on task. Another thing I did was set up an interoffice e-mail folder for the task items, and work on them the same time I worked on my written memo list. During the day, things get added, and things get crossed off. The good news is that it really helped the brain fogginess and the focus. Also... it helps when managment doesn't think you have done anything...you can show them your "list". Also... I get the sleepies in the afternoon. Purposely I get up from my desk and go take a quick ride down the elevator and go outside. Sometimes I need to go to another building to do something, but I have been known to walk the crosswalks on a city block and go back to my desk. When I get the sleepies in the morning, I do the same. I don't think I am the only person that does something like this. Some take the stairs everywhere they go - same concept. I have a support person who I promise you... she wears efficiency. You need to look at what people do to make them look efficient. Sometimes it is a look and less work. This one lady dresses nice even though she sits at a desk each day. She smiles (even when she doesn't feel like it) and says hello to everyone who stops by her desk, or who she passes, and if anyone asks her to do something, she responds. She stops what she is doing and gives her full focus to you. She has this trick where she has her "in box", and anyone who puts a paper in her in box... she either jumps up right away and picks it up, or she motions for you to directly hand it to her so she can put it in her working stack. She puts it on top while you are there, and moves it to the bottom when you leave . The other look of efficiency is to get one of those phone headsets so you won't miss any calls. If you are on the phone when someone walks up, smile... and give them the hand up and a just one 1 minute finger. Watch people. I have to tell you a story about my dogs. I have a basset hound and a pekinese. The pekinese (Cinderella-Man - aka Cinder) loves to play ball. He also loves to dig...dig, dig, dig. My basset hound (Max) sleeps... alot. Well... Max began to realize that Cinder got more attention than he because of that darn red ball. Everytime, we'd come outside, Cinder would get that red ball and do the cutsie tail wagging turning in a circle and please throw the ball routine. Max watched. One day... Max comes up to me when I go outside, and he gets the stuffed crunchy toy and does the cute tail wagging turning in a circle and drops the toy at my feet routine. I howled with laughter. Melissa... try. You need to live your life and not your disease. Hugs...
