Dear nynewbie:

I am sorry that you are going through such a rough patch and yes many if not
all of us can relate. There is something called apathy syndrome that is more
appropriate for Pit patients then depression and treatment for depression tends
not to work on apathy syndrome. You are not along and I would venture to guess
even without treatment you will have highs and lows!!!!

HUGS,
Tina

Anyone have trouble thinking positively about the future? This isn't a typical
depression -- I do manage to get through each day just fine. My
non-functioning tumor is only causing minor symptoms right now, and it's too
small for doctors to recommend removal.
I still work, still take care of my kids – only the innermost in my circle
even know that I have this tumor.

But, I find myself unable to think positively about the future. We had planned
on building an addition to our house…but now I think it's pointless. We were
thinking about a major family vacation in '09, but I just can't get
excited about it. While I can enjoy each day, I am just convinced that the
future will be dark. This tumor will most certainly start to cause problems.
My health will deteriorate.
And, if the tumor doesn't lead to problems, my radiation-attacked body (CAT
scans from a car accident 15 years ago, along with initial CAT scans done for
this issue) will start throwing out cancer cells.

I do believe in the live-for-today philosophy…and I really do make the best out
of each healthy day I'm given. But, it would be nice to also look to the
future with a bit of excitement. Anyone else struggle with similar thoughts?
